The Lowdown on Free Sim Cards

Free sim cards are incredibly popular amongst mobile phone users. One of the biggest attractions is that they provide a fast and simple transition from contracts that cost the user on a regular basis. Pay as you go sims are the most flexible choice for users in payment terms, as there is no requirement at all to pay out every month. Lets look at the packages available:

Orange Free Simcards

Orange offer 4 diverse packages to their pay as you talk offering – Dolphin, Canary, Racoon and Camel.

Dolphin is aimed at textaholics - with extra texts available.

Canary is great for off peak calls (evenings and weekends).

Racoon is the deal for on and off peak (all day) calls.

Camel provides competitive international call and message rates.

For more information about the Orange prepay propostition, see Orange free Simcards.

o2 Free Simcards

o2, like Orange, offer multiple choices depending on your mobile usage patterns:

Favourite Place gives bonus call time from a nominated location, for example your home address.

Talkalotmore is designed for off peak callers.

Text Anytime as the name suggests is ideal for texters.

o2 Unlimited at the time of writing is the flagship option, with unlimited calls and messages to other o2 phones.

Your Country is the final package, specialising in phoning abroad.

It’s also worth looking at sim only packages if you are a regular phone user. Although it does still technically mean signing up for a contract, they can typically be ended after 30 days, and a month can cost as little as £10. In other words, if you top up by a tenner or more a month this is likely to be the right option for your needs. All the major mobile networks now offer something along these lines, and there’s plenty of information available on the web – a useful overview table is available here.
